Weather Spoils Another Canadian Legend Car Series Date At Peterborough Speedway

Story By: JIM CLARKE / CANADIAN LEGEND CAR SERIES – PETERBOROUGH, ONT – Mother Nature can’t be a fan of the Trailers Plus Canadian Legend Car Series. For the 3rd time in 4 scheduled 2023 events at Peterborough Speedway, rain got in the way of running a show at the venue known as Canada’s Toughest 3rd Mile Oval.

Unlike the May 20th and June 24th dates that were called-off before teams even made the trip to the track, the most recent show on the calendar saw inclement weather roll in with practice and qualifying completed. All that remained was seeing the pack take the green flag for the night’s 30-lap main event. Legends Series spokesperson Kevin Foisy says that as frustrating as things might be, teams need to play the hand they’ve been dealt.

“We’ve always enjoyed a great relationship with J.P. and the team at Peterborough Speedway and they’ve already come up with a plan to finish the show we started,” Kevin Foisy said. “Our next event on the schedule there is Saturday, August 19th and our rained-out feature will be run before they start their regular night of racing.”

Before the rain arrived to postpone the balance of the show, Dawson Drimmie, Matt Haufe, Adam Cuthbertson and Cole McFadden had picked-up wins in the night’s qualifying heats. The starting line-up for the feature event had also been set, with Jordan Latimer and Mark Griffin scheduled to take the green flag on the front row.

Trailers Plus Canadian Legend Car Series teams were also chasing a share of some bonus money for podium finishers, put up by veteran series racer Stan Morrow. The race winner will receive an extra $500, with $300 for the runner-up and extra $200 for the 3rd place. In addition, the driver gaining the most positions in the feature event will be eligible for a $200 bonus payout.

Next action for the Trailers Plus Canadian Legend Car Series is scheduled for Saturday, July 15th at Sunset Speedway.
