Story By: RYAN DELPH / CONLEY MOTORSPORTS – WHEELERSBURG, OH – After several weekends of bad weather, the Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) teams both returned to racing action over the July 7-9 weekend in the Buckeye State.
Rod Conley ventured north to Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, Ohio last Friday night for a $5,000 to win Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series contest. Rod placed fourth in his heat race prior to passing a handful of competitors during the 40-lap feature en route to a solid seventh place showing.
Following a rain-out on Saturday evening at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio, the #71R team traveled to Brushcreek Motorsports Complex in Peebles, Ohio on Sunday for the annual ‘4B4EVER 40,’ which shelled out a $10,000 paycheck.
Rod grabbed the fourth transfer spot through his heat race and later rolled off from the outside of the seventh row in the 40-lap main event. “Hot Rod” was then able to knock on the door to the top ten during the unsanctioned race and eventually brought home a solid eleventh place effort. R.J. Conley was also in action on Sunday at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex and started off his evening by finishing second in heat race competition. The Wheelersburg, Ohio ace then flirted with a podium performance in the ‘4B4EVER 40’ before ultimately crossing underneath the checkers in the fifth finishing position behind only winner Drake Troutman, Adam Stricker, James Rice, and Dustin Linville.
Weather pending, both Conley Motorsports, Inc. teams will be back in competition on Saturday night, July 15. Rod Conley will race for a $3,000 top prize at Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio, while R.J. will invade the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio for a $2,000 to win show. On Sunday, Rod will then take his #71R team north to Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio for the DIRTcar Summer Nationals finale, which will boast a $5,000 payday.
