Bayston & CJB Motorsports Roll Into PA Fresh Off Hard-Fought Eldora Speedway Effort

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / CJB MOTORSPORTS – CARLISLE, PA – It was a frustrating week at The Big E for Lebanon, Indiana’s Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports, but despite a few heartbreaking moments that left the team with little to show for in the Eldora Million on Thursday and 40th Kings Royal on Saturday, there were plenty of shining moments, one of which a top-ten score during Eldora Million preliminary competition on Wednesday, July 12.

Bayston, who is still chasing his first World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series victory of the 2023 season, finished tenth in his Eldora Million Preliminary main event effort, improving five positions after starting 15th on the feature grid. A third-place finish during heat race competition set the tone for Bayston’s eventual A-Main score.

As mentioned, Bayston’s Eldora Million finale effort on Thursday, awarding $1,002,023-to-win, was left short of potential, forced to end competition early as the result of being involved in another competitor’s incident; he started 17th and was eventually scored 21st.

In uncanny fashion, Bayston’s eventual Kings Royal effort on Friday and Saturday, July 14-15, ended much like his Eldora Million campaign, kicking things off with a top-ten score during The Knight Before the Kings Royal on Friday, eighth at the final checkers, before missing main event competition the following evening.

Despite the hiccups, Bayston will roll into Pennsylvania eighth in the World of Outlaws championship standings padded by an impressive 26 top-ten results.

“A tough ending to our week after showing great speed the entire time. The Eldora Million and Kings Royal were races we’ve had highlighted the entire year and to leave Eldora with nothing is really frustrating,” Spencer Bayston discussed. “We ended up being involved in someone else’s mess during the Eldora Million main, and a fast track mixed with an unfavorable format kept us buried all night during the Kings Royal. I feel bad for our partners, as well as the crew. They did such a fantastic job all week, but I wasn’t able to reward them. We’ll head to BAPS and Williams Grove with our heads held high and work to win in CJB’s backyard.”

Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports will continue their 2023 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with another invasion of the Keystone State, set to takeover BAPS Motor Speedway in York Haven on Wednesday, July 19, followed by Williams Grove Speedway’s annual Summer Nationals on Friday and Saturday, July 21-22. Friday’s 25-lap main event will pay $10,000, plus another $5,000 to be Morgan Cup champion. Saturday’s 30-lap Champion Racing Oil Summer Nationals finale posts $20,000 to the winner.
