Annual Living Legends Dream Race On Tap Saturday At Port Royal Speedway

Story By: JUSTIN SNYDER / PORT ROYAL SPEEDWAY – PORT ROYAL, PA – Port Royal Speedway returns this Saturday, July 29th, with the 17th Annual Living Legends Dream Race at Port Royal Speedway sponsored by Mike Cleck Paving & Sealcoating, Inc. and presented by Tedd Reitz.

The event will feature both the Weikert’s Livestock 410 Sprint Cars and the Selinsgrove Ford Super Late Models.

The 410 Sprint Cars will compete in a pair of Twin-25 $10,000 to win feature events and each feature will pay $700 to take the green flag. Tow money will be $200. The first feature event will serve as the makeup for the PA Speedweek Greg Hodnett Classic event.

We’ll utilize the PA Speedweek format for all qualifying for the first feature event and the winner of that event will pull and invert of either 6,7 or 8 to set the lineup for the second feature.

The winner of the super late model event will take home $5000 and it will pay $400 to start.

The first ever Dream Race was held in 2007, where Sean Michael triumphed in a very popular and emotional win driving for the late Jim Nace in his #6 Sprint Car. Since then, Greg Hodnett (2), Cody Darrah, Chad Layton, Blane Heimbach, Ryan Taylor, Brent Marks (2), Rick Lafferty, Lance Dewease (2) AJ Flick, and Anthony Macri have all won the prize event. Danny Dietrich is the most recent winner in the event.

Combined with all three feature events and tow money, the total purse is expected to climb past $100,000 total. This keeps with the tradition of ensuring that the event remains one of the highest paying unsanctioned events in the state and serves as a giveback to the drivers partaking in weekly racing locally.

This event serves as the final event on the schedule where rainchecks from the Pennsylvania Speedweek swing will be accepted. Stay tuned for any other updates and we look forward to seeing you at the track!
