Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / OHIO VALLEY SPRINT CAR ASSOCIATION – WASHINGTON, WV – A feature purse packing a big punch is always important, but special incentives and added bonuses can play a major factor, as well, and that’s exactly what Ohio Valley Speedway’s Pete Smith Memorial is trying to accomplish: offer giveaways upon giveaways to participating teams.
Gradually elevating into West Virginia’s premier 410 sprint car event, the annual Pete Smith Memorial, featuring the Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association (OVSCA), is set to capture headlines on Friday, August 11, boasting an impressive $4,000-to-win/$400-to-start feature purse with lap money and other contingencies also up for grabs.
As noted, not only will Ohio Valley Speedway’s Pete Smith Memorial feature a stout winner’s share, but dozens of giveaways are also on the agenda, most of which assembled into Swag Boxes made possible in part by Scrubnutz Industrial. Items to be featured in the individual swag boxes include, but certainly not limited to, hand cleaner, performance helmet care kit, first aid products, spill recovery products, “Dude” wipes for hard to reach places, glass cleaner, AA and AAA batteries, and KSE Power Steering Fluid.
“We understand not everyone can win, but it was our goal to make sure everyone leaves with something. Whether that be purse money, contingency money, or a loaded swag box…we want everyone to feel appreciated,” Darren Griffith, Pete Smith Memorial primary partner, explained. “It’s been a lot of work in putting this all together, but it’s been a rewarding experience. We want the 2023 Pete Smith Memorial to be one for the record books. We know this event isn’t possible with driver support, so we want them to know they are appreciated.”
A full list of Pete Smith Memorial contingencies, bonuses, and giveaways are listed below. Pete Smith Memorial pit gates are slated to open at 4 p.m. on Friday, August 11, with hot laps beginning at 6 p.m. Racing is set to begin at 7 p.m., sharp.
