Greg Wilson Victorious With Great Lakes Super Sprints In Michigan

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / GREG WILSON RACING – BENTON RIDGE, OH – Another team outing resulted in another victory for Greg Wilson and Greg Wilson Racing, this time scoring high honors in a weekend trek through the Great Lakes State on Friday and Saturday, August 11-12.

The triumph, Wilson’s second of the season and his first in Michigan, secured the Benton Ridge, Ohio, native a $2,000 payday, occurring during Great Lakes Super Sprints (GLSS) competition at Silver Bullet Speedway in Owendale, Michigan, on Saturday, August 12.

Wilson earned his first win of the year in an IRA attempt in Plymouth, Wisconsin, on Friday, July 28 – it was worth $5,000.

Wilson, ace of his own Hercules Tires, DNC Hydraulics, Ohio Logistics Warehousing and Transportation, SandRidge Customs, Banshee Graphics, CJMM, No. W20 sprint car, earned his Silver Bullet win from the pole position, kicking off the program with a runner-up performance during heat race competition. The former two-time All Star Circuit of Champions champion took command of the GLSS main event on lap 17, sneaking by race-long leader and fellow Ohio native, Creed Kemenah.

The GLSS win was a first-ever for Wilson, a perfect rebound after suffering from a broken axle just one night prior at Hartford Speedway; he was racing in the runner-up spot at the time of the malfunction.

“Another special night for my family and I. They’re not only my family, they’re my team. I couldn’t do it without them. Every win we earn is for them,” Greg Wilson stated. “We really weren’t sure of a weekend plan, so this all kinda came together for us at the last minute in some respect. Regardless, the idea to head to Michigan paid off and we’re proud.”
