Rain Clears At Flamboro Speedway For Great Night of Racing

Story By: ASHLEY MCCUBBIN / FLAMBORO SPEEDWAY – MILLGROVE, ONT – The wait through a series of rainfall at Flamboro Speedway was made worth it for both competitors and fans alike this past Saturday night as there was a lot of great racing to follow.

Canadian Vintage Modifieds (CVM)

Ricky Willigar worked his way to the lead with just seven laps on the board, pacing the rest of the way en route to winning the first CVM feature in front of Quintin Murdoch, Jae Pepin, TJ Marshall, and Scott Tonelli. Ian McIntyre led the first four laps before placing sixth ahead of Steve Murdoch and Joey Woolsey. Mike Podd failed to finish.

The dream season continued for TJ Marshall with a victory in the second 25-lap affair, followed by Ricky Willigar, Quintin Murdoch, Scott Tonelli, and Ian McIntyre. Jae Pepin ran sixth in front of Steve Murdoch and Joey Woolsey. Mike Podd did not take the green flag.

Ontario Pro Challenge

Mike Norris beat his feather Tim to win the feature with Travis Majuery completing the podium. Ethan Fleet and Emma Norris rounded out the top-five ahead of Bryan Stevanus, Jay Linde, Sterling Hattin, Ty Riopelle, Mike O’Connell, and Tenli Pepin.

Tim Norris turned the tables with a victory the second time around, as Mike Norris and Bryan Stevanus completed the podium. Travis Majuery and Jay Linde rounded out the podium in front of Ethan Fleet, Ty Riopelle, Sterling Hattin, and Mike O’Connell. Tenli Pepin and Emma Norris failed to finish.

Mini Stocks

Mike Thomson led flag-to-flag in the first Mini Stock feature ahead of Mike Gilmour, Tyler Lewis, Kaitlyn Wallace, and Michael Kenny. Mike Hooper and Nikki King rounded out the field.

Tyler Lewis went to victory lane for the first time in 2023 in front of Mike Thomson, Mike Gilmour, Kaitlyn Wallace, and Mike Hooper. Nikki King placed sixth, while Michael Kenny failed to finish.

Pure Stocks

Jordan Wilms ran within the top-five all race long in the first feature, taking the lead with eight laps to go en route to the victory. Wayde Thorne kept his and Phil Given’s point lead in tact with a runner-up ahead of Mark Allan, Cam Thomson, and Chance Rogers. Spencer Riddell’s solid campaign continued with a sixth in front of Nicole Givens, Austin Etsell, Leo Labarbera, and Caroline Kelly.

Chase Mitchell battling just outside the top-10 en route to 11th, followed by Rick Mitchell, Mike Etsell, Dan Cormier, Keith Parsons, Teagan Ellis, and Rachel Mitchell.

The invert worked out well for Spencer Riddel, who took the lead on Lap 3 and did not look back en route to winning the second 25-lapper. Jordan Wilms put together a great night with a runner-up ahead of Cam Thomson, Wayde Thorne, and Chase Mitchell. Chance Rogers battled to sixth in front of Leo Labarbera, Mark Allan, Rick Mitchell, and Nicole Givens.

Mike Etsell wound up five laps to down in 11th, followed by Rachel Mitchell, Austin Etsell, Caroline Kelly, and Keith Parsons. Teagan Ellis failed to finish, while Dan Cormier did not take the green flag.

Southern Ontario Modified Association (SOMA)

Bob Mercer led flag-to-flag en route to winning the first SOMA feature ahead of Cliff Hodgkinson, Shannon Morris, Mark Lucas, and Dario Cocco. Ken Mercer was sixth, while Josh Fera and Liz McFarland failed to finish. Andrew Snyder and Clay Morris did not take the green flag.

Shannon Morris took advantage of the invert to lead all 15 laps in the second feature in front of Cliff Hodgkinson, Bob Mercer, Dario Cocco, and Ken Mercer. Andrew Snyder made his way forward for sixth, followed by Mark Lucas, Clay Morris, and Josh Fera. Liz McFarland did not take the green flag.

The next event at Flamboro Speedway is taking place on Saturday, August 19, featuring the Monster Trucks All Out Tour.

The next stock car racing event at Flamboro Speedway is taking place on Saturday, August 26 with the Bill Pickford Memorial for the Ontario Modified Racing Series. The night will also feature the Mini Stocks, Pure Stocks, T.Q. Can-Am Midgets, and Ontario Pro Challenge Series.
