Brown Finds Podium At Missouri State Fair; Knoxville Season Championship Ahead

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / BRIAN BROWN RACING – GRAIN VALLEY, MO – “Blackjack” Brian Brown and Brian Brown Racing spent some time at home during the recent weekend, eventually joining the POWRi 410 Bandit Outlaw Sprint Series at Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Missouri, on Sunday, August 20.

Although plagued with a tire issue after leading early, the 2023 360 Knoxville Nationals champion ultimately recovered and finished third on the POWRi feature rundown, just missing the opportunity to notch his seventh sprint car triumph of the season.

Blackjack kicked-off his evening’s effort with a runner-up performance during heat race competition; he started fifth.

“We always enjoy the opportunity to race at Missouri State Fair Speedway. It’s an historic venue and it’s not far down the road. And it’s where I got my start…my first race was at Sedalia,” Brown, ace of the Casey’s, FVP, Andy’s Frozen Custard, Impact Signs Awnings and Wraps, Mt. Dew Overdrive, HAWK Hunting, Ditzfeld Transfer, No. 21 sprint car, said. “A lot of great support there…Ditzfeld Transfer, Impact Signs, Champion Racing Oil, Weld Wheels, Andy’s Frozen Custard…just a lot of great supporters from right around that area and it’s always great to have them at the track.

“The night started off well for us,” Brown continued. “Got the lead early, but wasn’t too sure on where to be. I was kind of a sitting duck out front. Ended up getting passed, but something didn’t feel right. Ended up having two right side flat tires. Fortunately, we got that changed and we were able to get back to third. The box score never tells the whole story. Just a great effort by this entire team.”

Brian Brown and Brian Brown Racing will continue their 2023 campaign with a return visit to the Sprint Car Capital of the World, Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday, August 26. The evening’s program will be headlined with Season Championship Night – the final sprint car event of the year.
