Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / RAY MARSHALL MOTORSPORTS – FOREST, OH – Although September is officially at the halfway mark, Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports are still in full stride, once again cracking the USAC top ten, but this time in the Hoosier State.
Westfall, a recent winner with the nation’s finest non-wing competitors at Texarkana 67 Speedway in Arkansas, finished sixth in his recent top ten performance, doing so at Circle City Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Friday, September 15. The ace of Ray Marshall’s “Bumblebee Express” No. 33M started seventh on the USAC grid, earning his way into the big dance with a heat race victory.
Although the team was unable to match their top-ten outcome the following night at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana, Westfall and Ray Marshall will roll into the coming weekend with a full head of steam, now with 17 top-ten scores on the year, two of which victories.
Westfall was a BOSS victor in Kentucky before earning the aforementioned USAC triumph in Arkansas; it was Ray Marshall’s first-ever USAC win as a car owner.
“It’s been a fun, competitive year and I’m excited to see what we can do this weekend,” Westfall, driver of the Buckeye Machine Fabricators Inc, Hempy Water, DPI Ink, No. 33M sprint car, said. “Hats off to everyone involved with this race team. We’re rolling right through September, but we have a lot to look forward to. I think I speak for everyone when I say I’m excited to get back to Eldora.”
Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will continue their 2023 agenda with another USAC National Sprint Cars weekend, this time visiting Gas City I-69 Speedway in Gas City, Indiana, on Thursday, September 21, followed by Eldora Speedway’s 4-Crown Nationals on Saturday, September 23.
