Story By: RYAN DELPH / KINZER MOTORSPORTS – ALLEN, KY – The 2023 edition of the Cumberland Plateau Open Wheel Racing Series schedule came to a close last Friday night, September 22 at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tennessee.
Brandon Kinzer knocked down the second quickest lap overall during Open Wheel Modified qualifying to lock himself into the outside of the front row for the start of the 25-lap feature event.
With a $1,500 payday up for grabs in the headliner, BK ran in the second position and ultimately claimed a strong runner-up performance in the caution-free affair behind only victor Chris Wilson.
With the effort, Brandon officially clinched his second straight Cumberland Plateau Open Wheel Racing Series Championship, which was worth an extra $3,500 to the Kinzer Motorsports team. In 2023 with the tour, Brandon was able to rack up two feature wins, nine Top Fives, and eleven Top Tens in the eleven series contests that escaped the wrath of Mother Nature. More information on the Cumberland Plateau Open Wheel Racing Series can be found on Facebook.
The #18 team has opted to enjoy the September 29-30 weekend away from the racetrack. As of now, Brandon’s next race will be the annual running of the ‘Dirt Track World Championship’ at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on October 19-20. Modified qualifying, heat races, and B-Mains will be held on Thursday evening at the “Big E,” while the $5,000 to win main event is slated for Friday night.
