Story By: ASHLEY MCCUBBIN / OSCAAR – MILLGROVE, ONT – Starting on the pole virtue of the invert, Rick Spencer-Walt led all 30 laps en route to winning the Knightworks Design OSCAAR Hot Rod Frostoberfest feature at Flamboro Speedway.
Fresh off his win at Delaware Speedway, Tyler Hawn won the first JRS Auctions heat ahead of Cole Weber, Nick Clarke, Ryan Cowan, Rick Spencer-Walt, Ed Peterson, Kyle Woods, Matt Spry, Connor Ellis, and Paul Bogensberger Jr.
Cory McAllister was victorious in the second qualifier in his series debut in front of Steve Book, Rob Bromley, Trevor Thompson, Luke Gignac, Steve Ecker, Jeremy McLean, Dave Evison Sr., Bill Clarke, and Dave McMahon.
Delaware Speedway podium finisher Rick Spencer-Walt won the third heat ahead of Thompson, Book, Hawn, Nick Clarke, Ecker, Peterson, McAllister, Woods, and Evison Sr.
Jeremy McLean got his first qualifier win of the year in front of Gignac, Cowan, Ellis, Spry, Weber, Bill Clarke, Bromley, and Bogensberger Jr. McMahon would not take the green flag, while Bromley saw his heat end early due to a flat tire after contact with Cowan.
When it came time for the main event, Spencer-Walt started on the front row and dominated as he built up a considerable gap between himself and the field en route to pacing all 30 laps to visit McColl Racing Enterprises victory lane.
Trevor Thompson parlayed a front row starting spot into a runner-up, with points leader Tyler Hawn carving his way through the field for a third. Steve Book and Cole Weber completed the top-five, ahead of Rob Bromley, Cory McAllister, Ryan Cowan, Steve Ecker, and Ed Peterson.
Jeremy McLean was 11th, followed by Kyle Woods, Connor Ellis, Dave Evison Sr., Matt Spry, Paul Bogensberger Jr., Bill Clarke, Nick Clarke, and Luke Gignac. Gignac saw his feature end early on Lap 9 with a mechanical issue and a spin in turn one and two. McMahon did not take the green flag.
The 2023 season will be completed at Peterborough Speedway on Sunday, October 8 with the Autumn Colours Classic.
