Late Pass Sends Bobby Herrington To Sportsman Shootout Win At Fulton Speedway

Story By: TIM BALTZ / DAWDY MOTORSPORTS – FULTON, NY – Fulton Speedway has been good to Bobby Herrington during his career. In 2018 and 2019 as a track regular Bobby ran his family owned DIRTCar 358 Modified, to a pair of Fulton Speedway victories.

Fast forward to 2023, Bobby returned to the Highbanks for the Outlaw 200 weekend to compete in the Sportsman Shootout last weekend. It was a trip, the Kim and Dan Dawdy owned team, was glad that they made.

To kickoff the weekend Bobby qualified for the show finishing 3rd in his heat race, which put him 15th on the grid for the 50 lap event.

Bobby began to move his way through the field in a race that featured several of the top drivers in the division, which included several strong track regulars. As the laps clicked off Bobby found himself in contention to win the race with a handful of laps remaining. On lap 48 of the 50 lap event, Herrington made his move on race leader Tony Finch II for the top spot.

After a heartbreaking loss in the season opener in 2021, Bobby would get redemption in the biggest race of the Fulton Speedway season, along with a $3000 pay check, for the Sportsman Shootout win.

The team will have a little extra time to prepare for upcoming events at the Cornwall Motor Speedway, which have been rescheduled for October 20th thru the 22nd. Last year Bobby won two of the three Sportsman features and will be in prime form, to try and sweep the weekend.

Bobby, along with car owners Kim and Dan Dawdy, would like to thank all the loyal sponsors and most importantly, the great race fans who continue to cheer on Bobby and the #88Z every week.
