Story By: DAVE SEAY / FASTRAK TOURING SERIES – RICHMOND, KY – Colby Quick of Salisbury, NC went into the final two FASTRAK Touring Series powered by Chevrolet Performance events at Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY, third in points behind Dillon Brown of Gaffney, SC, and Jeremy Pilkerton of Loveville, MD.
With Brown not in attendance due to family obligations, the battle for the title came down to Pilkerton and thirty-one of the region’s best competitors to see who would take home the championship.
Going into night one Pilkerton held a five-point advantage over Quick. Pilkerton would run in the top five all night and would finish fifth. Quick kept pace but would finish right behind Pilkerton in sixth and add a point to his deficit going into the Damn Yankees 50.
On the final night Quick would start the event from the fifth position, with Pilkerton starting ninth. The two stayed close through the opening laps with the championship in the balance. Both drivers would fall back in the field. Pilkerton’s car would have issues with a fan blade which caused him to nurse the car home to a nineteenth-place finish. Quick would capitalize on Pilkerton’s misfortune and go on to a ninth-place finish and being crowned the 2023 FASTRAK Touring Series powered by Chevrolet Performance Champion.
“On behalf of DY Enterprises we would like to congratulate Colby Quick on winning the FASTRAK Touring Series powered by Chevrolet Performance championship, and we are proud to have him represent us as our 2023 Champion,” commented DY Enterprises President and FASTRAK owner/promoter Bill Lupinos.
Finishing behind Quick in the national points were Jeremy Pilkerton, Luke Hyre, Noah Whited, Damn Yankees race winner Dustin Linville, David Pangrazio, Friday night winner Josh Dietz, Dillon Brown, Jason Jameson, and Braeden Dillinger rounding out the top 10.
Details of the 2023 banquet will be released in the coming weeks.
