Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / TEAM 73 – SHEBOYGAN, WI – Scotty Thiel’s busy March agenda may be complete, but his April agenda is just as busy, activating officially with an IRA Outlaw Sprint Series doubleheader at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, on Friday and Saturday, April 5-6.
Thiel, who spent his most recent weekend in the Sunflower State battling the Greatest Show On Dirt at 81 Speedway in Wichita, Kansas, will roll into the IRA Outlaw Sprint Series season opener – dubbed the 410 Sprint Car Challenge – with high hopes and big goals, working to conclude the two-race stint with not only his first victory of the season, but ultimately the IRA points lead.
“We’re really looking forward to getting to 34 Raceway,” Thiel, ace of the Gibbsville Cheese, Professional Plating Inc, Ludwig & Sons Trucking, Total Restoration Services, Scott Thiel Builders, Lift Pro, Schmidts Landscaping, Complete Water, No. 73 sprint car, stated. “We wanted our March results to be a little bit better than what they were, but we’re going to treat this weekend as a new start to our season. Our IRA title chase starts now, so it’s important that we come out with big results.”
As noted, Thiel’s most recent weekend of competition led the “Big Wheel” to Wichita, Kansas, joining the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series in a one night stay at 81 Speedway. Unfortunately, Thiel’s evening ended short of main event competition; he was scored eighth in the evening’s Last Chance Showdown.
