FloRacing Night In America Spoon River Event Postponed; Opener Moved To Lincoln Speedway Thursday

Story By: BEN SHELTON / FLORACING NIGHT IN AMERICA – BANNER, IL – With latest weather forecasts now calling for as high as a 70% chance of rain from 5 – 10 p.m. officials with Spoon River Speedway and Castrol® FloRacing Night in America presented by Kubota have made the decision to postpone the scheduled event for tonight – Wednesday, May 8.

“We’re all chomping at the bit to get our 2024 season underway, so this is no doubt disappointing. However, since last night both the projected rain chances and duration of rainfall have for this evening have increased with rain scheduled to start around hot laps. The last thing we want to do is put our teams and fans in a bad position,” said series general manager, Ben Shelton. “We’re going to turn our focus to hitting the ground running tomorrow at Lincoln Speedway. We greatly appreciate everyone, who supports our series, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”

Track and series officials are currently evaluating possible reschedule dates.

The 2024 campaign along with the third annual Illinois Speed now opens at Lincoln Speedway on Thursday, May 9 with a $20,000-to-win / $1,000-to-start Castrol® FloRacing Night in America presented by Kubota program. Dennis Erb Jr. won with the series at the ¼-mile oval in 2022, while Hudson O’Neal was victorious in 2023.

DIRTcar Modifieds ($2,000-to-win) will also be on the docket on a night presented by Graue Inc. Chevrolet Buick of Lincoln.

The pit gate opens at 3 p.m. CT with the grandstand gate opening at 4 p.m. The driver’s meeting is at 5:30 p.m. with hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing action to follow.
