Cornwall Motor Speedway 2024 Season Preview: Mini-Stocks

Story By: MARTIN BELANGER / CORNWALL MOTOR SPEEDWAY – CORNWALL, ONT – With a very successful practice session in the books, it is now time to focus on the 55th season at Cornwall Motor Speedway, we start today with the season preview for our Rick’s Ranch Mini-Stock division. Great things are expected for the entry level division at the speedway!

A new track champion will be crowned in 2024 with James Clarke stepping away from racing this year, this will open the bids as many candidates are raising their hands to take the crown! Brandon MacMillan comes in as one of the favorites after finishing in second place last season but many drivers such as Antoine Dumouchel, Travis Lamarche and Carl Gorry for example will be there and ready to give MacMillan a go for the title.

A solid field of cars is expected this year with 13 cars on hand at practice, outlooks are to see a field of 16 to 18 cars on a regular basis with many returnees such as Martin Bernard, Adrian Black, Steven Boies, Emily Massy, Christopher Proulx, Marc-André Voyer, Xavier Metivier, J-C Bouchard, Marc Dagenais, Dan Cook and Felix Lavictoire are all back this year.

Along with the returnees, some new faces will join the group as Richard Belair, Jeremy Levac, Eric Roy and Hugo Lavictoire are racing with the Mini-Stocks and some other surprise entries might be adding to the mix with Brockvile, Granby or Brighton regulars making the haul occasionally for some events.

A busier schedule than previous seasons with 17 events on the regular calendar including a few special events with 2 Eastern Ontario Mini-Stock Showdown to kick off the season on May 19 and also to end the regular season on September 1 along with a special 35-lap feature on July 28 that will pay $555 to win, these 3 events will attract many invaders and we could see fields of 25 cars on these nights.

The class will also be part of the 5th edition of the Canadian Super DIRT Weekend as the calendar will be unveiled later.

A big year is expected and a lot of action as all the teams has put a lot of effort in preparing the best car possible for the season.
