Cornwall Motor Speedway’s 2024 Season Preview: Pro Stocks

Story By: MARTIN BELANGER / CORNWALL MOTOR SPEEDWAY – CORNWALL, ONT – With only 8 days before opening night, we continue our season preview as we are looking forward to another great year in our full-fender division, the Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock.

Fans can expect to see a similar field of cars than 2023 in the Pro-Stock as the top 9 in points are back, a fierce battle in between the top 4 went on until the final night as only 26 points separated Marc Lalonde, Burton Ward, Jocelyn Roy and Kevin Fetterly. Even with 6 wins last season, Lalonde did not pull away from the competition as Ward, Roy and Fetterly were always in front with the track champion. A similar scenario might happen this summer!

Veteran drivers Rock Aubin and Denis Gauvreau should be part of that top 5 battle that should also includes Thomas McDonald, Blayne Nichols, Daniel Desnoyers, Marc Peladeau and Eric Jean-Louis that are penciled in as regulars. The close collaboration with Mohawk will possibly bring some extra cars from south of the borders and many visitors from Quebec on a regular basis.

More than half of the Pro-Stock schedule will be special events starting on June 2nd with the Pro-Stock Showdown that will pay $5,555 to win in the 55-lap feature. The Clyde Slinger Pro-Stock Series will make 3 appearances along with 3 visits at Mohawk as well, this series is boosting a $8,000 points funds along with bonus money. The Farnham Ale Pro-Stock Series will also be present at 2 occasions along with a Thursday, August 22nd special 40-lap feature.

A big year awaits the Pro-Stock with several nights that we will have more than 20 cars for most of the nights.
