Herrington Strong In DIRTCar Sportsman Series With Podium Finish At Brockville

Story By: TIM BALTZ / DAWDY RACING – BROCKVILLE, ONT – The 2024 season has started off on a strong note for the Kim and Dan Dawdy owned number 88Z DIRTCar Sportsman and their champion driver Bobby Herrington.

Brockville Ontario Speedway was the next stop on the schedule for the DIRTCar Sportsman North Regional Series event and it was another solid performance.

The weekends have not been kind to Brockville weather wise to start the year off, as a delay of over an hour due to weather, pushed back the start of the night.

The delay in action never bothered Bobby at all, as he time trialed at the front of the field in his group, which put him up front for the start of the 8 lap heat. Bobby would jump out front just like he did one week ago and cruise to yet another qualifying heat win, which put him in the re-draw for the feature.

Bobby would re-draw 5th or the 40 lap contest and would charge to the front right away. Bobby ran a solid third for the majority of the event behind second place Shane Pecore and leader Gavin Eisele, who looked to have the race in hand. Bobby never gave up, and on lap 30 the caution flew which gave him the chance to get the lead.

When the green flew Bobby continued to battle for the lead with Pecore and Eisele. As the laps wound down and the cars started to spread out, Herrington would end up settling for a strong finish, coming across the line in the number three spot at the checkered flag.

This weekend the team will be back in action still searching for win number one of the season at Brockville as they chase a fourth straight BOS Sportsman title.

Sunday the team heads to the Cornwall Motor Speedway hoping for a strong showing in the opening round of the Lamoureux Pumping Sportsman Series.

Car owners Kim and Dan Dawdy thank everyone for their support from the returning sponsors and new partners such as DIG Race Shocks and Dirt Outlaw Apparel. They would also like to thank the race fans and look forward to seeing everyone this coming weekend.
