Schatz caps Knoxville doubleheader on the podium; Four days at Huset’s Speedway on deck

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / TONY STEWART RACING – BROWNSBURG, IN – Donny Schatz and Knoxville Raceway are certainly synonymous with one another, and the ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion and 11-time Knoxville Nationals champion proved that notion yet again during the recent weekend, not only accomplishing back-to-back top-ten appearances, but notching a podium in the process – the tenth of the 2024 season.

Schatz, ace of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing, Carquest, Advance Auto Parts, Ford Performance, Curb Records, Sage Fruit, Elliott’s Custom Trailers & Carts, Mobil 1, Hoosier, VP Racing Fuels & Tub ‘O Towels, No. 15 sprint car, finished tenth and second in his two-day Knoxville campaign, kicking off the weekend with an impressive rally from 21st to secure the aforementioned tenth-place outcome.

The Fargo, North Dakota, native finished second the following evening, Saturday, June 15, advancing a pair of positions after starting fourth on the 25-lap grid. A restart with three to go gave Schatz a much-needed opportunity to pounce, but rising star and Clovis, California, native, Corey Day, held on for the $12,000 payday.

Despite the fact, Schatz’ weekend results allowed the ten-time Series champ to reclaim second in the 2024 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship chase. He currently trails nine-time winner and point leader, David Gravel, by 56 markers. Schatz owns two victories on the year, as well as 26 top-ten appearances in 29 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series starts.
