Story By: KENNY SHUPP / WOODHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL, NY – Just two weeks remain in the 2024 season at the Woodhull Raceway and one event that everyone looks forward to each year will happen on Saturday, September 21, 2024, with the running of the Annual Southern Tier Customs Street Stock 100 lap event.
Since Southern Tier Customs, Smith Road in Woodhull has taken over sponsorship of the Street Stock Division at the Woodhull Raceway, company owner, Terry Pierce has put a great deal of emphasis on this 100-lap special event by acquiring additional sponsorship from other businesses and fans who place monetary donations into the lap fund.
“We really try and make this a big deal not only for the fans but the drivers and teams as well stated Terry Pierce of Southern Tier Customs. All the money that is generated goes back into lap sponsorship or other forms of marketing for the 100-lap event. For example, halfway leader and hard charger just to name a few. In 2023 we generated an additional $10,000 all of which went back to the teams. The more money that we can get the better as it all goes back to the drivers and when they know there the potential for a lot more money other than just the payout purse it will bring more cars to the event.”
Multi time Woodhull Raceway Street Stock Track Champion and the winner of the past two Woodhull 100 Street Stock Events. Glenn Whritenour of Jasper, NY will once again lead the charge of both track regulars and invaders all looking for the winner’s share of the September 21, 2024, event.
Last year only one yellow flag slowed the 100- lap grind with that coming just after the halfway break for debris on the racetrack.
Joining the Classy Looking Stret Stock’s will be a complete show of the Insinger Performance Modifieds, Empire Crushing LLC RUSH Crate Late Models, Hometown Excavation 602 Crate Sportsman, Sawyer’s RV and Camper Service Center Hobby Stocks along with the Big Jim’s Wicked Tee’s Quad C Mini Stocks featuring a mix of both Front and Rear Wheel 4 Cylinder creations.
Grandstand gates for the September 21, 2024, event open at 3:30 with the first qualifying heat event set to go off at 5:30 pm.
Even though it is getting late in the season, the Woodhull Raceway will still have all food and beverage concessions open as usual offering some of the best racetrack food you will find anywhere.
