Brady Fultz, Brett Marlatt & Markus Kerr Keep Rolling Along At Woodhull Raceway

Story By: KENNY SHUPP / WOODHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL, NY – With the 2024 Woodhull Raceway Point Season now safely in the record books it is time for post season play and in addition to a Regular Super 7 Show the track also invited the CRSA 305 Sprints to join the card for the September 14, 2024, event.

After claiming his first ever Woodhull Track Championship last week, Dundee, NY’s Brady Fultz was back once again piloting the Herb Wright machine, and it was just another day at the ranch for the second gen pilot as he dominated the twenty-five-lap feature.

After pulling the number one and two pills, Fultz and Russ Morseman would bring the fifteen- car field to green with Fultz immediately taking control and from there going on to win number three on the 2024 campaign.

The twenty-five- lap event went green to checkered and when the double checkered flags waved it found Brian Doolittle having his best run of the season finishing in the runner-up position after starting third on the opening grid. Veteran Addison pilot Donnie Lawson lined up eighth and advanced to complete the top three podium.

Dayton Brewer driving as a teammate to Brady Fultz in a second Herb Wright maintained machine finished fourth, right where he started with invader, Marc Goodwin rounding the top five.

The A Verdi Storage Containers CRSA 305 Sprints made their only appearance of “24” at Woodhull after an early season washout, and they did not disappoint the fans as twenty-two cars took to the High Banked One-Third of a Mile Oval.

Nate Pierce of Troy, Pa along with Tyler Chartrand from Johnsonville, NY would lead the wonderful, winged things to the opening green with Chartrand getting the jump and going on to his first ever win at Woodhull.

Pierce would keep pace with Chartrand throughout the entire distance but had to settle for second with Savannah, NY’s Dillon Paddock claiming third, right where he started the twenty-five- lap event.

Tyler Graves and Dalton Herrick would go on to round the top five after beginning the feature in positions seven and six, respectively.

For a more concise wrap up of the entire night of action for the CRSA 305 Sprints simply go to CRSA Sprints on Facebook or crsamyracepass.com where series PR Director, Marty Czekala will have full coverage.

In the Hometown Excavation Crate Sportsman twenty-five lap feature, a pair of Addison competitors in Cayden Lawson and Kenny Peoples Jr, would bring the eleven car field to the opening green flag with Lawson getting the early advantage and would go on to hold off Peoples and claim the feature event, his second triumph of the year at Woodhull.

Tim Guild would start fourth and move forward one position to claim third at the finish with Kyle Leach moving from fifth on the opening start to claim fourth at the finish as he was chased across the line by Ray Bliss Jr making a rare Woodhull appearance as the western New York veteran would complete the top five.

Brett Marlatt of Canisteo has dominated the action all season in the Empire Crushing RUSH Crate Late Model Division and this week was no different as he would begin the twenty- lap feature outside the second starting row, blast by front row starters in Rich McNeal and Jake Wilber to take control early on and cruise to win seven on the season.

Wilber would hold on for second in his first appearance of the season with pole starter McNeal claiming the final podium spot.

Two-time 2024 class winner, Steve LeBarron would finish fourth once again piloting his teammate, John Waters ride with Brian Knowles subbing in for 2023 Rookie of the Year, Marshall O’Brian coming home fifth.

Jasper, NY veteran Woodhull competitor, Glenn Whritenour had his son pull his feature starting pill putting dad outside pole and that is all it took for GW to go on to trip number five into Woodhull’s Victory Lane in the Southern Tier Customs Street Stock main event.

After fighting a skipping power plant, Whritenour was able make the necessary adjustments prior to feature time as had to hold off veteran journeyman driver, Tony Harris of Campbell taking over the driving chores on this night in the Schuyler Family Racing 57j machine.

Harris put on a brilliant effort only to come up shy none the less a solid second as he was chased across the line by Lawrenceville’s Mick Seeley who hailed third at the finish.

Newly crowned 2024 Southern Tier Customs Street Stock Track Champion, Clayton Mclean would go on to claim fourth after beginning the twenty-lap even in seventh chased across the line by invader, Charlie Fulton who found the Woodhull High Banks much to his liking finishing fifth in the fifteen- car field.

Joe Birdsall of Canisteo took full advantage of his inside front row starting position to dominate the distance in the twenty-lap Sawyer’s RV and Camper Service Center Hobby Stock feature event.

For Birdsall it was win three on the season as he has found some real speed in his machine over the past few weeks and with the victory, he once again thrill the fans with his classic beer slamming/shot gunning, roof dancing victory lane exhibit,

Birdsall was followed across the line by recently crowned 2024 Hobby Stock Track Champion, Brandon Conklin who was second with Brandon Birdsall going on to finish third advancing one position from his fourth starting position.

Dillon Philip and Greg Young would go on to complete the top five.

In Big Jim’s Wicked Tee’s Quad C twenty-lap feature action it was invader Blake Snyder taking his first ever Woodhull victory.

Originally Snyder was scored in second but in a post-race conference it was found out that original winner, Eric Wise had switched cars with DJ Williams without notifying officials and was thus disqualified.

That moved everyone up in the finishing order with 2022, 23 and 2024 Track Champion, Wes Houghtling in a new ride and starting twelfth on the grid came home to nail second with Tony Dickerson finishing third advancing from eighth.

Fourth and fifth went to Seth and Brian Johnson both newcomers to Woodhull with Seth moving up one spot while Brian Johnso finished where he started in fifth.

The Big Jim’s Wicked Tee’s Youth Warriors were added onto the card only a day or so prior to the night of action and it was the same result with Markus Kerr destroying the field and in doing so picked up win eleven on the season.

Another weekly competitor, Courtney Thomas would follow along in second after starting fourth on the grid.

Rounding out the podium finishers, it was Brayden Davis in his first attempt of the season at Woodhull.

Completing the six-car field was Maddox Weis, Cadin Thomas and Bradly Wise who did not make the opening bell.

Congratulations to all competitors.

Up next at Woodhull on Saturday, September 21 will be Full Fender Night featuring the Annual Woodhull Raceway Street Stock 100 presented by Southern Tier Customs of Woodhull.

Also on the card will be the Modifieds, Crate Sportsman, Hobby Stocks, Quad C and RUSH CLM.

Remember for the rest of the season gates open at 3:30 pm with racing at 5:30 pm.
