Woodhull Raceway Once Again Feels The Wrath Of Mother Nature

Story By: KENNY SHUPP / WOODHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL, NY – For the seventh time in 2024 the Woodhull Raceway has fallen prey to weather.

Late afternoon thunderstorms rumbled through the area at the worst possible time, (one hour prior to race time) forcing track owner/promoter, Nikki Brewer to cancel the September 21, 2024, event.

“We held on as long as we could, explained Brewer. We got a shower around 4:30 but then it just hung around. With the shorter days and no sun and wind to help with the drying process there was no way we could get the surface race ready in a timely manner. Consequently, we had to pull the plug and reschedule because the Woodhull 100 Street Stock event is one of our biggest races of the year so we want to make sure we can get it reset.”

The Southern Tier Customs Street Stocks 100 lap event takes months to put together if not the entire season with the large amount of lap money and added sponsor money involved. It is imperative that the track make every attempt to get it into the record books.

Fans and competitors are encouraged to keep a watchful eye on the tracks social media page by going to www.Facebook.com/WoodhullRaceway/ for more details leading up to next week’s September 28 program which was already a scheduled event featuring Crate Sportsman, NYPENN IMCA Modifieds, Hobby Stocks and 600 cc Modifieds.

Should there be any further adjustments in scheduling it will be posted.

Also, with fall weather and cooler temperatures in the offing everyone is reminded that for the remainder of the season the grandstand gates open at 3:30 pm with the first green flag waving at 5:30 pm, one hour earlier than the regular season.
