Conley Motorsports Set To Invade Florence Speedway Saturday Night For Spring 50

Story By: RYAN DELPH / CONLEY MOTORSPORTS – WHEELERSBURG, OH – Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) lifted the lid to their 2023 campaign on Saturday night, April 8 at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana.

The inaugural running of the ‘Ira Bastin Memorial’ was sanctioned by the Northern Allstars Late Model Series (NALMS) and 54 competitors piled into the pit area to do battle for the $6,000 paycheck. R.J. Conley, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, laid down the ninth quickest lap in his group during the qualifying session before placing fifth in his stacked heat race and second in his B-Main.

R.J. then worked his way past seven racecars during the course of the caution-free headliner to finish thirteenth in the final rundown of the ‘Ira Bastin Memorial.’

His brother Rod Conley was also in competition at the legendary 1/4-mile, semi-banked oval. “Hot Rod” stopped the clock thirteenth fastest in his group during time trials prior to running seventh in his loaded heat race. Unfortunately, he was caught up in an early wreck in his B-Main and was unable to make the start in the 40-lap main event.

Both CMI drivers are slated to return to action this Saturday evening, April 15 at Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky. The 47th edition of the ‘Spring 50’ will take place on Saturday at the Cincinnati-area venue and R.J. and Rod Conley will both vie for the $10,000 first place prize money.
