Story By: TIM BALTZ / CAN-AM SPEEDWAY – LAFARGEVILLE, NY – This season has been one of the toughest in recent memory for the Can Am Speedway in Lafargeville New York. Rain and bad weather have been the only thing that stopped the great racing action in 2023.
With heavy rain in the forecast, Can Am Speedway management made another difficult decision to pull the plug on Friday night’s program, which was to feature all six divisions to kick off Father’s Day weekend.
Next Friday night there is no scheduled racing, as the speedway prepares for one of its biggest races of the season, that being the annual Pabst Shootout for the Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTCar 358 Modifieds. The event features all the top local runners, who will try to fend off outside invaders like Erick Rudolph and Dave Marcuccilli. Rudolph has won the event two of the last three years.
Joining the Wednesday night card will be the Empire Super Sprints and Matt Tanner will look to go back-to-back. The DIRTCar Sportsman North Regional Series will kick off at Can Am as well. Dave Rogers won the Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTCar Sportsman feature one year ago and claimed his first win in his first start of the season at Can Am on June 2nd.
