Alex Cuzzila & John Baker Jr. Victorious On Canada Day Long Weekend At Flamboro

Story By: ASHLEY MCCUBBIN / FLAMBORO SPEEDWAY – MILLGROVE, ONT – With six different divisions on-track at Flamboro Speedway to help celebrate Canada Day on Saturday, it was a busy night of racing for both the fans and drivers in attendance.

Ontario Modified Racing Series (OMRS)

Alex Cuzzila led all 25 laps to win the first feature in front of John Baker Jr., Tyler Bouillon, Bob Franks, and Andrew Massey. Robert Warnes and Randy Hollingsworth rounded out the field, while Rick Warnes failed to finish.

John Baker Jr. as victorious in the second feature after taking the lead from Alex Cuzilla on the closing lap of the event. Tyler Bouillon rounded out the podium ahead of Andrew Massey and Rick Warnes, while Robert Warnes, Bob Franks, and Randy Hollingsworth failed to finish.

Southern Ontario Modified Association (SOMA)

Bob Mercer paced all 15 laps to win the first feature in front of Cliff Hodgkinson, Ken Mercer, Dario Cocco, and Liz McFarland. Rajan Brar failed to finish after issues on the final lap, with Shannon Morris scored in seventh. Andrew Snyder only completed four laps, with Clay Morris failing to take the green flag.

The invert saw Shannon Morris make his way to second on Lap 2, followed by a pass for the lead with four laps remaining to pick up the checkered flag. Ken Mercer scored another podium in second ahead of Bob Mercer and Dario Cocco. Liz McFarland and Andrew Snyder did not finish, while Cliff Hodgkinson, Rajan Brar, and Clay Morris did not take the green flag.

Canadian Vintage Modifieds

TJ Marshall continues to extend his advantage atop the point standings, winning the first 25-lap feature after taking the lead at the halfway mark. Mike Podd climbed into second shortly thereafter, unable to track down Marshall for the lead. Ricky Willigar, Scott Tonelli, and Quinton Murdoch completed the top-five, ahead of Joey Woolsey. Jessie James, Jae Pepin, Ian McIntyre, and Steve Murdoch failed to finish.

TJ Marshall carried the momentum to the second 20-lap affair, taking the lead with seven laps to go en route to sweeping the night in front of Ricky Willigar, Ian McIntyre, Scott Tonelli, and Joey Woolsey. Jae Pepin was sixth, while Quinton Murdoch, Mike Podd, Jessie James, and Steve Murdoch failed to finish.

Super Stock

Nick Troback led all 15 laps en route to winning the first feature in front of Roy Wilkie and Kelsey Lamont.

Roy Wilkie was victorious in the second race, repeating the same feat as Troback in the first. This time, it was Nick Troback in second in front of Kelsey Lamont.

Mini Stock

Shawn Taylor continues to rack up the checkered flags at Flamboro, scoring another invitational victory, this time ahead of Mike Gilmour, Mike Thomson, RJ Croteau, and Mike Hooper.

Pure Stock

After scoring his first career feature victory last weekend, Spencer Riddell made it two in a row as he captured the checkered flag in the 30-lap invitational ahead of Phil Givens, Gillian Hils, Brady Cox, and Chase Mitchell. Alex Stewart ran inside the top-five for the first nine laps, fading back to place sixth, in front of Rick Mitchell, Chance Rogers, Teegan Ellis, and Nicole Givens. Cam Thomson was the only driver to fail to finish after mechanical issues.

The next event at Flamboro Speedway is taking place on Saturday, July 8 with rescheduled Meet the Drivers Night. This will give you a chance to walk on the track, while being able to get autographs from all of your favourite competitors. The night will feature the Pro Late Models, Ontario Pro Challenge Series, Super Stocks, Canadian Vintage Modifieds, and Pure Stocks.
