Rod Conley Lands On Podium In Summer Nationals Finale; Big Doubleheader Ahead

Story By: RYAN DELPH / CONLEY MOTORSPORTS – WHEELERSBURG, OH – Following area rain-outs last Saturday that kept both Rod and R.J. Conley from competing locally at Atomic Speedway and Portsmouth Raceway Park respectively, Rod and his #71R team made their way north on Sunday, July 16 to Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio.

The grueling DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour wrapped up their month-long grind at WCS and a $5,000 winner’s check was up for grabs.

“Hot Rod” stopped the clock eleventh quickest in Group A during the qualifying session, but later bolted up to finish second in his heat race. After rolling off from the inside of the third row in the 40-lap feature event, the Wheelersburg, Ohio ace vaulted up to as high as second in the running order by utilizing the bottom groove of the oval before landing on the podium in third behind only victor Kyle Moore and runner-up Ashton Winger.

The Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) teams will be out in full force this weekend – July 21-22 – for a pair of special events at Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, Ohio and Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio. Rod and R.J. Conley will both tackle the unsanctioned ‘Dust Buster 40’ later tonight at MRP, as a $6,000 top prize will be on the line. The brothers will then trek to Atomic on Saturday evening for a Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series contest that is set to shell out a $7,500 payday.
