Dennis Erb Racing Racks Up Trio Of Summer Nationals Top Fives; Outlaws Tripleheader Next

Story By: RYAN DELPH / DENNIS ERB RACING – CARPENTERSVILLE, IL – Dennis Erb Racing stayed in the Land of Lincoln from June 14-18 to enter the first five DIRTcar Summer Nationals shows during the opening week of what is dubbed the “Hell Tour.”

Dennis Erb, Jr. started off the week with a pair of podium efforts in $5,000 to win events at both Peoria Speedway and Kankakee County Speedway. On Wednesday in the lid lifter at Peoria, Dennis earned Fast Time honors during qualifying, won his heat race, and eventually placed third in the 40-lap feature behind only race winner Brian Shirley and runner-up Shannon Babb.

At Kankakee on Thursday, Dennis once again set the bar during qualifying prior to finishing second in his heat race and third in the 40-lapper behind only victor Brian Shirley and runner-up Jason Feger.

Following an eighteenth place performance on Friday night at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois and an eleventh place showing on Saturday evening at Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois, Dennis wrapped up the hectic week of racing action on Sunday at Sycamore Speedway in Maple Park, Illinois.

After timing in seventh quickest in Group A during the qualifying session and securing a victory in his heat race, the Carpentersville, Illinois star drove to a steady fourth place effort in the 40-lap main event behind only $5,000 winner Brian Shirley, Jason Feger, and Chad Finley despite folding his nose Dennis was also paid for a fourth place finish in the week-long point battle following Sunday’s show at Sycamore.

The #28 team will rejoin the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Late Model Series schedule this upcoming weekend in the states of Kansas and Nebraska. The two-day ‘Wichita Late Model Showdown’ at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kansas will kick off later tonight, June 23 with a pair of split-field, $4,000 to win preliminary features. Points accumulated tonight will help set the heat race lineups for Saturday’s grand finale at 81 Speedway, which will boast a whopping $30,000 first place prize.

The tripleheader weekend will then conclude on Sunday, June 25 at Off Road Speedway in Norfolk, Nebraska. The visit to the Cornhusker State oval will shell out a $10,000 winner’s check. Dennis comes into the weekend ninth in the latest version of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series point standings.
