Chad Strawn Goes Flag-To-Flag In Caution-Free Ontario Modifieds Racing Series Feature Win

Story By: JIM CLARKE / ONTARIO MODIFIEDS RACING SERIES – PETERBOROUGH, ONT – After a rainout a week earlier, the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series, presented by GEN-3 Electrical returned to Peterborough Speedway Saturday, July 22nd and thrilled the crowd with a stellar feature shootout.

Following the pre-race inversion draw, OMRS teams rolled from the staging area with Chad Strawn and fan favourite John Baker Jr. on the front row for a 20-lap finale. From the drop of the green flag, Strawn took control of the field but Baker Jr. wasn’t about to let the driver of the potent No. 35 machine out of his sight, as he mirrored every move made by his good friend and racing rival.

Strawn – a father of 2 from Newcastle, Ontario, who has gained some extra Peterborough Speedway track time this year as a regular in the Renegade Truck division – logged some near-perfect laps during his feature run. As he and ‘JBJ’ broke away from the pack, they had the No. 50 of 2022 series champion of Alex Cuzzilla running 3rd.

The lead trio caught the tail-end of the field around the halfway mark but that didn’t slow their pace. Strawn held on for the win, with Baker Jr. 2nd and Cuzzilla 3rd. Tyler Bouillon, Bob Franks, Andrew Massey, Rick Warnes, Rob Warnes and Randy Hollingsworth rounded-out the finishing order.

Bob Franks and John Baker Jr. picked-up qualifying heat wins earlier in the night.
