Donny Schatz Recovers For Top-10 At Weedsport; Ironman 55 Highlights Coming Agenda

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / TONY STEWART RACING – BROWNSBURG, IN – Ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion, Donny Schatz, was on pace to chase his fourth victory of the season Sunday night at Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport, New York, but unfortunately, the Fargo, North Dakota, native was cut short of that possibility, forced to go to the work area after being involved in a mid-race incident.

Despite quick chaos resulting in a nose wing malfunction, Schatz would return to the speedway and ultimately recover to finish tenth, stacking up his 23rd top-ten result of the season.

As noted, Schatz’ potential was high on Sunday evening, kicking things off with a heat race victory followed by a fifth-place result in the evening’s dash; Schatz started fifth on the A-Main grid.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series were scheduled to compete on two occasions at the state-of-the-art Weedsport Speedway, but Mother Nature stepped in and ruined Saturday’s agenda.

Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will continue their 2023 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with a visit to Pevely, Missouri’s Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 for the annual Ironman 55 on Friday and Saturday, August 4-5.
