Woodhull Raceway Welcomes CRSA Sprint Cars Saturday, August 19th

Story By: KENNY SHUPP / WODOHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL, NY – The Mike Emhoff led CRSA 305 Sprint Car Organization will find its way to the High Banks of the Woodhull Raceway for their only appearance in 2023.

Saturday, August 19, 2023 will see the Wonderful Winged Things try and tame the historic Steuben County speed plant as drivers from across the northeast will converge on the one-third mile clay oval to see who can come away victorious.

The most recent CRSA 305 Sprint winners at Woodhull include veteran Modified pilot, Jeff Trombley in 2018 as well as Tyler Boniface who came away victorious in 2017.

“Woodhull Raceway is the great equalizer when it comes to winged sprint car racing. It is a far cry from the big half-mile tracks that the 305’s are accustomed to, but with its wide surface and tightly banked corners the track will make teams put on their thinking caps on how to get around its unique configuration. Doesn’t matter if it’s 600 Micros, 360’s or the 305 Sprints. This place always makes for interesting racing and surprise winners. That is according to fourth year Woodhull owners, Terry and Niki Brewer.

CRSA Public Relations and Announcing specialist, Steven Ovens, takes it a step further.

“These men and women put on a great show where ever we travel. We have a solid core group of followers, including a mix of veterans that ran Modifieds or 410 and 360 Sprints at one time as well as a bunch of hungry young guns. Woodhull is a different type of track, and the drivers can’t wait to get there. This will be a very competitive show!”

In addition to a full program including heats, dash, B and A Mains for the CRSA 305 Sprints, the Doug Gross Construction RUSH Crate Late Models will run for $2,000 to win in their scheduled feature event.

All the regions top RUSH CLM Drivers are anticipated to be at Woodhull all vying for the big winners check including the likes of track regulars Jason and Brian Knowles, Austin Allen, Brett Marlatt, Aaron Miller, Steve LeBarron, Joe Layfield along with class Rookie of the Year contenders, Marshall O’Brian, Noah Talada and Garrett Heffner.

Depending on their schedule’s outsiders such as Mike and Jermey Wonderling, Bryce Davis and John Waters may also make their way to Woodhull for the $2 grand to win event.

Also, on the card it will be a complete show of the Insinger Performance Modifieds, NAPA Crate Sportsman, KMD Excavating Hobby Stocks, Southern Tier Customs Street Stocks, as well as a trio of Big Jim’s Wicked Tee’s sponsored classes including the Mini Stocks, FWD and Youth Warrior Divisions.

Pit gates open at 3:30 pm with the main grandstand seating area gates swinging at 4:30 pm.

Woodhull offers an Early Bird Special offering a buck off the Adult General Admission Ticket Price for the first hour of opening with additional specials for Senior Citizens (+62) and Youth’s (8-12 with a paid adult).

Kids under 8 are admitted free.

A pair of heavy weight marketing partners, Pepsi and Maple City Dodge will join forces to promote the night of action.

Pepsi is the Official Drink Beverage of the Woodhull Raceway and has been for decades. Their involvement at the track runs deep and not only does the company sponsor a night of action, PEPSI along with Siemens Energy co-sponsor the Woodhull Raceway Victory Lane both on track and at the rear of the grandstand seating area.

Several Pepsi products are sold at various Woodhull Raceway Concession Stands located throughout the facility.
