Conley Motorsports Preps For August 19th Event At Atomic Following R.J.’s Fifth Victory

Story By: RYAN DELPH / CONLEY MOTORSPORTS – WHEELERSBURG, OH – R.J. Conley continued his strong 2023 campaign by picking up his fifth Super Late Model victory of the season last Saturday night, August 5 at the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio.

R.J. swept the Jackie Boggs Night for the Kids program at PRP by clicking off the fastest lap overall during qualifying prior to securing a victory in his heat race. The Wheelersburg, Ohio native then led all 25 circuits in the weekly feature event to claim the $2,000 payday ahead of runner-up Kirk Phillips, Josh Bocook, Kenny Christy, and Justin Cooper!

His brother Rod Conley was in action last weekend at both Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky and Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio. On Friday night in the $7,500 to win ‘Pete Abell Memorial’ at Ponderosa, Rod placed fourth in his heat race before climbing three spots during the course of the 40-lapper to finish fourth at the checkers behind only victor Michael Chilton, Josh Rice, and Forrest Trent. At Atomic on Saturday evening, “Hot Rod” ran third in his heat race and fourth in the A-Main behind only $3,000 victor Tyler Carpenter, Dave Hornikel, and Clint Keenan.

Both Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) drivers are taking this weekend off from action, but will return to competition next Saturday evening, August 19 at Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio. The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series will preside over a single-day shootout at the Buckeye State venue and a $5,000 winner’s check will be up for grabs.
