Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / BRIAN BROWN RACING – GRAIN VALLEY, MO – It was a slow start to the weekend for “Blackjack” Brian Brown and Brian Brown Racing, but as most veterans do, the Higginsville, Missouri, native rebounded in a hurry, eventually concluding their trek through the heart of the Midwest with back-to-back top-ten appearances, all of which highlighted with a top-ten against the Greatest Show On Dirt at the Sprint Car Capital of the World on Saturday, June 15.
Brown, ace of the Casey’s, FVP, Andy’s Frozen Custard, Impact Signs Awnings and Wraps, Mt. Dew Overdrive, Ditzfeld Transfer, No. 21 sprint car, finished sixth in his World of Outlaws top-ten, improving four positions after starting tenth on the A-Main grid. In total, the World of Outlaws spent two days at Knoxville Raceway, commencing their Knoxville Nationals precursor one night prior on Friday, June 14. Brown raced on to finish 20th, forced to be a backmarker after losing his brakes due to contact from a mud clot.
Brown’s final highlight of the weekend occurred at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, South Dakota, on Sunday, June 16, finishing eighth after starting one position worse. Although not Brown’s top result of the weekend, it may prove most beneficial, as the Higginsville, Missouri, native is set to spend four days at the Huset’s high banks beginning Wednesday, June 19.
“Overall, a pretty decent weekend for our Casey’s | FVP team, although the pill draw wasn’t too kind to us on either night,” Brown acknowledged. “We managed to put ourselves in a position to start 13th on Friday, but on the third or fourth lap, a mud clot came up and knocked our left front brake line off, so we were forced to finish the race with no brakes. An unfortunate set of circumstances, for sure.
“Saturday night was better for us starting tenth. We actually worked our way to fifth before finishing sixth. Sometimes those pill draws can get you buried before your night even begins. Despite the fact, I feel like we did a great job in keeping ourselves in solid positions all night long. Looking forward to a big week at Huset’s Speedway. Hopefully all of the fans come out and support this massive event. The racing should be great.”
