Story By: KENNY SHUPP / WOODHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL, NY – Superior Propane of Woodhull, NY will present the decisive point show of 2023 at the popular Steuben County Facility.
After a long, hard season of racing at the Woodhull Raceway it will all come down to the final regular season point night prior to heading into post season events.
The track has only had two rained out events since late April when the track opened for the 2023 season with a pair of nights getting knocked out due to wet grounds and extremely cold and damp conditions. July 29 and August 12 were lost to Mother Nature who decided to help water the track at the most inopportune time.
After all qualifying heats were in the books on August 26, a hard storm rumbled through the region nixing the remainder of the program setting up double features on September 2, 2023.
The Sept. 9 event will wrap up the points for another year with most every division still up for grabs as to which driver will claim their respective class championship.
Big Jim’s Wicked Tee’s competitors Wesley Houghtaling in the Front Wheel Drives and Russ Morseman IV in Youth Bandits have both clinched their respective class titles as has Kenny Peoples Jr in the NAPA Sportsman. However, the remaining five weekly classes are still too close to call entering the last point night.
“This has been a thrilling season for us, claimed Woodhull owners Terry and Niki Brewer. Fans have been treated to several different feature winners and even though the FWD, Warrior and Crate Sportsman Divisions have been decided there were still other faces in victory lane besides those of Peoples Jr., Houghtaling and Morseman IV who ran away and hit in claiming their class titles. However, all the other classes are still up for the taking.”
On the card for the night fans will see action provided by the headline Insinger Performance Modifieds, NAPA 602 Crate Sportsman, Doug Gross Construction RUSH Crate Late Models, Southern Tier Customs Street Stocks, KMD Excavation Hobby Stocks as well as a trio of Big Jim’s Wicked Tee’s sponsored classes in the Mini Stocks, FWD and Youth Warrior Divisions.
Pit gates for the September 9 show open at 3:30 pm with the traditional Main Gates open an hour later at 4:30 pm offering an Early Bird Special of $1 off the Adult GA Ticket Price. Seniors (+62) and Kids (8-12) receive discounts as well.
