Woodhull Raceway Officially Opens ’24 Season With Another Successful Arnot Mall Car Show

Story By: KENNY SHUPP / WOODHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL, NY – Even a rare late March snowstorm could not derail the Annual Swarthout Recycling Woodhull Raceway Arnot Mall Car Show which was successfully completed on March 23 and 24.

The massive Arnot Mall Facility in Big Flats, NY was once again the setting for fifth year Woodhull Raceway owners, Terry and Nikki Brewer as they hosted the event which offered a little something for all those in attendance.

Thousands of curious on-lookers filed thru the turnstiles over the two days all looking to get a glimpse of their favorite driver and their fresh mounts for the upcoming season.

It was common to see drivers signing autographs, posing for photos taking selfies with adults and kids.

A trio of machines were located at Center Court including Russ Morseman IV, Ajay Potrzebowski Jr. and Austin Allen who all won Woodhull Raceway Track Titles in 2023. Teddy Morseman’s “23” Street Stock Championship ride as part of his family’s display was also there in conjunction with this year’s car show.

“We are pleased with the turnout of cars and drivers that made up the 2024 Arnot Mall Car Show presented by Swarthout Recycling. A great crowd of fans came by the Woodhull Raceway display table, and everyone is excited to get the new season underway.” That according to track owners, Terry and Nikki Brewer.

Approximately thirty-three Woodhull Raceway regulars were part of the show presenting all seven weekly classes of competition.

Other displays and cars representing Vintage Cars, 600cc Micros, Sling Shots, Go-Karts and IMCA Modifieds were present as well as Excite Motorsports NY of Vestal who supplied trophies for the Tire Changing Competition.

All equipment was in immaculate condition with no one sparing any expense in professional graphic design work that adorned each car.

For their participation in this year’s Swarthout Recycling Woodhull Raceway Arnot Mall Car Show, each driver was presented a beautifully hand-crafted plaque including a photo of their car with Southern Tier Customs of Woodhull providing the professionally designed keep sakes of this year’s event.

Eight, three person teams participated in the Excite Motorsports NY Tire Changing Competition with the team of Luke Boom claiming the top prize trophy changing the right rear tire on Ajay Potrzebowski’s Modified. Finishing in the runner-up position was Team Teddy Morseman with Team Russ Morseman completing the podium.

As a token of appreciation for all the teams that participated, the track ownership held a drawing where each car entered had a shot for a Free Season Pit Pass for 2024 valued at approximately $1,000 each. Congratulations to Steve Knapp (Hobby Stock) and Glenn Trowbridge (Crate Sportsman) as they were the lucky recipients of the freebies.

With the car show safely into the record books Woodhull Raceway can now focus their attention on a pair of Test and Tune Sessions on Saturday, April 6 and 13 which leads to their season lid lifter on Saturday, April 20 that will see the first Super 7 Show of the 2024 season including the Insinger Performance Modifieds, The Empire Crushing LLC RUSH Crate Late Models, Hometown Excavation 602 Crate Sportsman, the Southern Tier Customs Street Stocks along with Sawyer’s RV and Trailer Service Center Hobby Stocks. The Big Jim’s Wicked Tee’s sponsored Quad 4 and Woodhull Warrior Divisions round out the seven card show.

As the curtain was pulled on another successful car show the Brewers thanked everyone for attending in saying, “First we must thank Swarthout Recycling for again sponsoring this year’s car show. They have been doing this for close to twenty years and we cannot thank them enough for all their support. The folks at Excite Motorsports NY were great coming onboard this year to help promote the Tire Changing competition which saw several different teams go against the clock. The teams and drivers that attended the car show were impressive to work with. Every car looked immaculate with their beautifully designed graphic work and the drivers were great conversing with all the fans, particularly the kids who seem to enjoy the car show the most. We also must give a shout out to several of our track staff for volunteering their time over the weekend to make this event a success. Thanks again to everyone.”
