Story By: ASHLEY MCCUBBIN / OUTLAW MIDGET RACING CLUB – PETERBOROUGH, ONT – It seems there’s something special about the combination of Mikey Homewood and Peterborough Speedway with the Outlaw Midgets presented by Canadian Tire Innisfil. It was the sight of his first career feature victory in 2023, and the spot for another in 2024.
After winning his heat, Mikey Homewood kicked off the feature well in slotting himself in the runner-up spot with just three laps on the board. It looked as though as it would be another night of just a good podium finish, until it all changed with a pass on the last lap.
Mikey Homewood led just the final lap en route to picking up the checkered flag. Jason Metcalfe picked up the runner-up after pacing 18 of the 20 laps, and his third straight podium performance after back-to-back wins. Derek Millman returned to the podium with a third.
Glenn Raymond and Kevin Spiesz completed the top-five, in front of Russ Couture, Mark Grant, Brett Dorion, and Fred Homewood.
Jason Metcalfe now holds a 39-point advantage over Kevin Spiesz in the series standings.
The next race for the Outlaw Midgets presented by Canadian Tire Innisfil takes place at Full Throttle Motor Speedway on August 10.
