Persistent Showers Force Cancellation Of Can-Am Showdown In September Finale

Story By: TIM BALTZ / CAN-AM SPEEDWAY – LAFARGEVILLE, NY – Mother Nature has been none to kind to the Can Am Speedway during the 50th Golden Jubilee season and night two of the Showdown in September is no different.

Due to rainfall overnight and expected rain accumulation throughout the day, Can Am Speedway track management has decided to cancel night two of the weekend, which was to feature the John Burr Memorial for the Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTCar Sportsman, the Ron White Memorial for the Sundance Leisure Thundercars and the final appearance for the Empire Super Sprints.

Fans one night ago were treated to some fantastic racing under threatening weather conditions, with Mat Williamson taking the win in the R.D Hutchinson Memorial for the Super DIRTCar Series, Eric Nier pulling off the move of the year and holding off Shane Pecore by a car length to win his first ever DIRTCar Sportsman Series race. David Pangrazio dominated the Northeast Late Model Alliance portion of the program Friday night.

The track staff and management thank all the teams, drivers and sponsors for their continued support in 2024. But most importantly a huge thanks goes to you the fans, without your support we would not be able to do what we do.
