Matt Westfall & Ray Marshall Motorsports Show Perseverance During USAC Event At Eldora

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / RAY MARSHALL MOTORSPORTS – FOREST, OH – Although just missing the top ten, Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports’ effort on Saturday night in the Let’s Race Two finale at Eldora Speedway was more than impressive, forced to overcome mechanical issues stemming back from heat race competition, then perfecting an A-Main charge through the field.

Their eventual rally, climbing from a provisional starting position to finish 12th in the USAC National Sprint Cars A-Main, was completed with very little prep time, as the Forest, Ohio-based team was cornered into utilizing a back-up car which ultimately forced the No. 33M to miss the evening’s consolation semi-feature.

Westfall, who owns five top-ten appearances thus far in 2023, opened his weekend at The Big E with a 17th-place score on Friday, May 5.

“We put in a lot of effort this weekend, and although the overall goal was to finish much higher, I’m proud of what we achieved and what we were forced to overcome,” Westfall, driver Ray Marshall’s Buckeye Machine Fabricators Inc, Hempy Water, DPI Ink, No. 33M sprint car, said. “Hats off to the entire team. A lot was thrown at us in a short amount of time, but we battled back. We have some time off before our next USAC start, but we’ll be ready.”

Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will continue their 2023 agenda with a USAC National Sprint Cars start at Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, Indiana, on Tuesday, May 23. The week will continue with back-to-back USAC starts at Circle City Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Wednesday and Thursday, May 24-25.
