Matt Westfall & Ray Marshall Motorsports Qualify For USAC Sprint Smackdown At Kokomo

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / RAY MARSHALL MOTORSPORTS – FOREST, OH – Joining the nation’s elite, Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports spent their most recent weekend in the heart of non-wing country, participating in Kokomo Speedway’s annual Smackdown featuring the USAC National Sprint Cars.

Although the team was short of adding any checks to their season’s top-ten column, the Forest, Ohio-based program did manage to qualify for the Big Dance, earning their way into Saturday’s 40-lap, $30,000-to-win Smackdown finale via heat race runner-up finish.

In all, Westfall, a recent Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) main event winner, qualified for all three of Kokomo Speedway’s Smackdown programs – two preliminaries and the Saturday finale – and highlighted all attempts with a three-spot jump to 13th on Friday.

With Kokomo’s Smackdown officially in the books, Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will now turn their attention south, ready to invade Texas and Arkansas for a three-day sweep in early September.

“It was a great weekend at Kokomo. We’re always hunting for more, but it’s tough to be disappointed about qualifying for a race like the Smackdown,” Westfall noted. “Just can’t thank Ray Marshall and everyone at Ray Marshall Motorsports enough for their effort and support. We have a pretty big trip coming up. We’re excited to head south and see what we can do.”
