Eddie Sites Takes NY Penn IMCA Modified Series Race At Woodhull Raceway

Story By: MICHAEL BENJAMIN / NY PENN IMCA MODIFIED SERIES – WOODHULL, NY – Saturday night saw the Close Racing Supply NY/Penn IMCA Modified Series presented by M.R. Graphix roll into Woodhull Raceway for their second and final visit of the season.

Weather on this visit was better than the first trip. The series would see a season high of 21 cars signed in for the nights event. With that many competitors signed in, we would see 3 heat races with 7 cars each to kick off the night.

Midosa heat one would see Shawn Bruce and Jake Maynard bring the field to the green. Bruce would jump out to the lead and not look back. Bruce would claim the checkers followed by Tyler Belcher, and Gary Roberts. Midosa heat two would see a stacked field with 3 series winners in it. Brad Sites and Rodney Morgan would

bring the field to the green with series points leader Eddie Sites starting 5th. Brad Sites would take heat two with big brother Eddie second, and Morgan finishing third. Lance Conley and Jacob McConnell would lead Midosa heat three to the green. Keith Lamphere would find himself out front after starting in third. Lamphere would take the win with Rich McNeal and Harry Ely finishing second and third.

Come feature time, the series would get bumped from its third running spot in the program to first out due to the implementing weather coming. All 21 cars would hit the track just about 8:30pm and take the green flag. Winner of the first race at the track Eddie Sites and Rich McNeal would lead the field to that green flag as the field races the weather.

Sites would jump out to the lead early and through 4 cautions would not look back. He was challenged a couple times by his little brother Brad Sites but Eddie had the stronger car on the night. E. Sites with his win would also claim his second AllStar Race Challenge. B. Sites would settle in for the runner up position. Tyler Belcher would work his way up from the 12th starting position and take home the Force Flow Pressure Service Hard Charger award and 3rd place finish. Jakub Ingham and Rodney Morgan would come home in the fourth and fifth place spots.

The Close Racing Supply NY/Penn IMCA Modified Series presented by M.R. Graphix goes on a couple weeks break while IMCA world converges to Boone, Iowa for their SuperNationals racing. The series returns with a two race weekend on September

15th and 16th as they head to Clinton County Speedway and Penn Can Speedway. The series will also welcome in NASCAR Veterans Kenny Schrader and David Stremme for both of those races. The NY/Penn series will close out their third season at Bridgeport Speedway on September 23rd, as they will make history by racing at the New Jersey track for the very first time ever!
