Story By: KENNY SHUPP / WOODHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL, NY – A tradition that has turned out to be one of the biggest nights of the season at the Woodhull Raway will return on Saturday, May 18, 2024 as the Canisteo Police Club will welcome members of the local Fire, EMS and Police Departments to the facility.
According to Woodhull Raceway owners, Terry and Niki Brewer, “We have built up a solid relationship with many of the local police, fire, ambulatory and rescue units in and around the Steuben County area of New York. The Canisteo Police Club is very near and dear to us and it is with a great deal of pleasure we welcome all our local police, fire, and Ems personnel to the track for a night of relaxation and great racing competition.
Many local volunteer fire departments are encouraged to bring various pieces of fire fighting apparatus to the speedway for display which is always a hit with the fans in attendance.
If the situation is right, a medically equipped helicopter will also be on site for curious onlookers to take a peek at all the lifesaving medical devices that are included within the unit.
In addition, NYS Police and Steuben County Canine units will be at the track putting on demonstrations throughout the program.
On the track it will be a Regular Super 7 Show featuring the Insinger Performance Modifieds taking center stage as they will be supported by the Hometown Excavation Crate Sportsman, the Empire Crushing LLC RUSH Crate Late Models and the Southern Tier Customs Street Stocks.
Also, in action it will be the Sawyers Camper and RV Service and Repair Hobby Stocks along with the Wicked Tee’s sponsored Quad C and Warrior Divisions.
And if that isn’t enough bang for your buck, the highly popular NY 600 Sprint Tour will make a return engagement with drivers from all across the northeast converging on Woodhull Raceway piloting their super competitive wonderful, winged creations around the High Banked One-Third of a Mile Oval at breakneck speeds.
“We have built a lot into this program, stated the Brewer’s. Every cop,(State, County and Municipal) fireman, firewoman, junior firefighter, ambulance corps member is welcome to this event. With the displays and demonstrations going on it will be extremely informative for everyone in attendance.
Pit gates for the May 18 event open at their traditional 3:30 time with Main Grandstand Seating to follow at 4:30 pm.
Woodhull offers an Early Bird Discount offering $1 off the Adult General Admission Ticket Price for the first hour the main gates are open.
Other discounts apply to Senior Citizens (+62) and kids 8-12 when accompanied by a paid adult.
Concession stands are open with plenty of hot, mouth-watering food when the main gates open.
