Some $10,000 Distributed To Southern Tier Street Stock Drivers As Part Of Annual Woodhull 100

Story By: KENNY SHUPP / WOODHULL RACEWAY – WOODHULL, NY – Because of the aggressive and hard work of Southern Tier Customs owner, Terry Pierce and his partner, Becky Stewart a record payout was shelled out to all the drivers that competed in the recent Southern Tier Customs Woodhull Raceway Street Stock 100 event held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the historic Steuben County oval.

“Right after we finalized our sponsorship of the Street Stock Division at the end of 2022, we immediately went to work on providing the best possible Woodhull 100 we could put together, stated Terry Pierce of Southern Tier Customs. Joe and Jen Willcox originally put this deal together eight years ago and they did a masterful job in building up the event providing lots of lap money on top of the tracks purse. Becky and my goal were to make it even better by upping the amount of money going back to the racers bringing in corporate sponsors as well as the ordinary fan and racer who wanted to contribute to the event.”

Mission accomplished as a slew of companies donated to the cause along with several other lap sponsors and when all was said and done the final figure for the top fifteen that competed in the event amounted to some $10,000.

“Every driver got at least $280 just to start and rough numbers found the fifth-place finisher taking home around a grand in cash. Whritenour got $2,000 for winning plus a trophy that was over six foot tall and it didn’t stop there as he racked up additional lap money as did numerous other drivers.

Pierce and Stewart sold tee’ shirts during the night of the event commemorating Southern Tier Customs involvement in their first ever attempt at sponsoring an event of this magnitude.

All tee shirt proceeds went into the final purse going back to the drivers.

Albeit the car counts were off a bit for this years Woodhull 100 that did not deter from great race competition as the entire first half of the event was run off without a caution flag with the lone yellow of the entire 100 lap grind coming on lap ninety-six for debris on the track.

At the conclusion of the event all drivers were applauded by the fans in attendance for putting on a great show in record time.

“I doubt that in the nine -year history of this race it has ever gone off as quickly as this year’s race did, stated Pierce. The drivers really worked hard to put on a great show for the fans with not a single on track incident and only a handful of competitors dropping out due to mechanical issues.”

Both Pierce and Stewart of Southern Tier Customs would like to thank the following partners for providing sponsorship of the Woodhull 100.

House Construction and Renovations, Countryside Property Maintenance, CS Tree Service, JT Logging, Country Crossroads Seed and Feed, The Fee Mill Restaurant, Nikk L Brew, Hornell Self Storage, Addison Eagles Club, Town and Country Disposal, Elkland Moose Lodge 746, Reisman Auto Repair, Strauss Tree Service, Purdy Creek Motorsports, Superior Plus Propane as well as all the drivers, race teams, fans and track employees that donated additional money into the lap money fund.
