Kyle Keen’s Dominant Performance Ends In Heartbreak At BAPS Motor Speedway

Story By: A2DPR / KYLE KEEN MOTORSPORTS – YORK HAVEN, PA – Kyle Keen spent the offseason working relentlessly on every aspect of his program. He, his father Shawn and other team members put together a complete 358 sprint car and a complete 410 sprint car, making sure every detail was how they wanted it.

On top of that, he invested significant time and effort on the marketing side of his program, bringing in a new partner, Hess Auctioneering, to continue building his resources. He also participated in multiple testing sessions in the weeks leading up to his season opening race.

To say Keen couldn’t wait to hit the track for competitive action to reap some rewards would be a huge understatement.

POSITIVES TO BUILD ON

Keen’s day kicked off with a respectable 5th place run in his heat race. The car was good but passing was difficult on the still narrow racing surface early in the show.

It was good enough to make the redraw though and that paid off nicely.

Keen started 4th in the 20-lap A-main and showed his dominance from the drop of the green. He charged to the front to lead the opening lap. He remained out in front and began to stretch his lead to a very comfortable margin.

The opening half of the main event was solid proof that Keen and his team had certainly put in the work during the offseason. He was fast.

Keen led the first 12 laps of the 20-lap feature but the potential victory slipped away with one mistake and a tough lesson learned.

“That was a tough one to swallow.”, a disappointed Keen said. “We were really good. I felt like the win was ours but I made a mistake running the top and it cost us a win. Lesson learned.”

Despite falling short of the result Keen felt his car was capable of, he was very encouraged by the speed and balance the car had.

“Can’t thank my wife, my dad and mom, my crew, and my sponsors for sticking with me through learning curves like this. I will be better next time and hopefully we can get that first 358 win this year.”, Keen said.
