Chris Andrews Records Podium, Top-Ten In AFCS Double At Attica & Fremont

Story By: TYLER ALTMEYER / CHRIS ANDREWS RACING – SANDUSKY, OH – A true turning point in their overall effort, Chris Andrews and Chris Andrews Racing capped recent Attica/Fremont Championship Series (AFCS) competition in northwest Ohio with back-to-back top-ten scores, highlighting their weekend doubleheader with a podium performance at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, on Friday, July 21. A runner-up finish officially, the podium outcome was Andrews’ first of the season; an elusive feat as the new open wheel program continues to gel.

Adding some flair to his weekend highlight, Andrews, commencing his eventual runner-up finish from sixth on the grid, made a late-race bid for the lead, nearly driving by Republic’s Cap Henry for the AFCS triumph. Andrews moved into the second spot with five to go, earning the position over former All Star and Series winner, Hunter Schuerenberg. The Sandusky, Ohio, native kicked-off the evening program with a runner-up finish during his respective heat race.

Andrews raced on to finish sixth at Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio, the following evening; he started from the fifth position.

“I think we got some things figured out,” Andrews, ace of the Ohio Truck Sales/Fleet Capital No. 15C sprint car, said. “A great weekend for this team. We definitely needed that. It’s been a trying year for us, but nobody’s given up. We’ll head into the weekend with a ton of confidence and work to do one better at Attica on Friday.”
