Story By: MIKE LEONE / RUSH RACING SERIES – ERIE, PA – The Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH Dirt Late Model Series presented by Born2Run Lubricants will head to Eriez Speedway this Sunday night (August 27) for Flynn’s Tire Touring Series race #17 of the 2023 season.
Not only will $3,000 be up for grabs for the winner, but it’s also “Manufacturers Night” presented by MSD Performance with over $27,000 in valuable product giveaways!
The event was originally scheduled for August 6, but was rained out. Sunday will mark the second and final Flynn’s Tour event of the season of the Erie, Pa. dirt track. Jeremy Wonderling won the May 14 event over a 37-car field. Eriez has had strong car counts all season for their City Chevrolet Weekly Series events as they’ve averaged over 22 cars per night.
Breyton Santee is a four-time Eriez winner this year and leads the City Chevrolet “Track Pack” points. David Pangrazio has one win and hasn’t finished worse than fifth all season long. Jason Genco has come on strong winning three of the last four races, and would love to end his Touring Series winless drought as his last win came more than five years ago on July 19, 2018 at Genesee Speedway.
Sunday is the 12th edition of “Manufacturers Night”, which will take place at Eriez for the fourth time with over $27,000 of valuable product giveaways. MSD Performance proudly presents all of the RUSH Series “Manufacturers Nights” and contributes product as well. Each participating racer on Sunday is guaranteed to walk away with an item valued at the very minimum of $400. The drawings will take place immediately following the drivers meeting, which will get underway at 5:35 p.m. Drivers need to be registered by that time in order to participate in the drawings. The RUSH Stock Car “Manufacturers Night” with more than $4,000 of giveaways will also take place on Sunday night.
The complete list of packages for the Late Models are posted below. It’s possible that drivers can win multiple prizes if there are less than 46 cars. In the event of more than 46 cars, additional packages will be added so that every competing driver will receive a manufacturers package valued at a minimum of $400! Also, one lucky driver will win a $550 certificate from Absolute Powder Coating towards the powder coating of a new chassis; this will be in addition to his or her manufacturers package.
“Manufacturers Night is always one of our biggest events of the season and we have to thank Eriez for hosting it for the third straight year and Bradford giving the RUSH cars the night off so their racers can take part,” expressed RUSH Director Vicki Emig. “Our marketing partners have again stepped up tremendously so that every competing racer on Sunday will take home a prize package of at least $400!”
Past locations of “Manufacturers Nights” with car counts in parentheses are Sharon Speedway in 2012 (57), Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway in 2013 (40), McKean County Raceway in 2014 (43), Eriez in 2015 (47), Tri-City Raceway Park 2016-2018 (58, 48, 45), Pittsburgh in 2019 (36), Eriez in 2021-2022 (46, 39) while the 2020 drawings was contested through the Weekly Series points due to COVID-19.
There have been 12 RUSH Tour events completed all-time at Eriez. Max Blair has six victories, while his father Rob has one in a substitution role for Max. Kyle Hardy swept both events in 2021, while his Virginia counterpart, Logan Roberson, won in his first appearance in 2022. Josh Ferry won last year’s “Manufacturer’s Night” event for his first career Tour victory, while Jeremy Wonderling won his first Eriez Tour race back in May this year.
Three-time Series Champion Jeremy Wonderling enters Sunday for the Flynn’s Tire Touring Series with eight wins this season all occurring in the last 12 events, which has propelled him to a 79-point lead over his brother Mike Wonderling, who is touring for the first time and is in search of his first career Series win.
Joe Martin, who has finished second in points each of the last three years, is third in points with one victory and trails Mike Wonderling by just 11 points. Completing the top 10 in points are Brock Pinkerous, Cody Dawson, Ashton Briggs, Jim Rasey, Austin Hauser, Craig Graham, and Brandt Graham.
Precise Racing Products will award a $50 gift card for the “Pedal Down” Hard Charger that passes the most cars in the feature. The TBM Brakes “Tough Brake of the Night” will award three bottles of Xtreme6 Racing Brake Fluid. Ontime Body & Graphic’s “Spoiler Alert” will award a spoiler kit to the 17th place finisher (note: if a driver has already won a spoiler this season, spoiler will be awarded to the next position). Performance Bodies will award a $100 gift card to the first non-qualifier each night part of the “Nosed Out” program.

RUSH registration will open at 3 p.m. with the drivers meeting at 5:35 and the Manufacturers Night drawings to follow. Qualifying will follow Stock heat races at 6:30 p.m.
