Story By: GRAY LEADBETTER RACING – DENVER, NC – 2022 Championship Off-Road Pro Spec champion Gray Leadbetter takes the #28 Bilstein Chevrolet Colorado back into action for Ryan Beat Motorsports this weekend at Crandon International Raceway for the 54th Annual World Championship Off-Road Races.
For the North Carolina native, it’s a return to the site of her title-winning performance on the biggest weekend in short course off-road racing.
Leadbetter enters the weekend third in points with 469, well within striking distance of second this weekend and with three races left to close back in on first place. Earlier this month at Bark River International Raceway, she won her second race of the season in the second round of the doubleheader. The win also marked her eighth podium in 10 starts on the campaign. In addition, between Pro Spec outings, Leadbetter added a pair of fourth place finishes in Nitrocross action from Utah Motorsports Complex in the #28 Top Liner SXS, climbing to third in points in that series as well.
“There’s nothing like doing battle at the Big House!” said Leadbetter. “I have a lot of great memories here at Crandon, but not much compares to winning a race and title here like we did last year. We’ve got tons of momentum from the past month, especially with a win my last time in the truck at Bark River, and I know R/BM will be on its A-game as always as we go for both points on Saturday and the World Championship on Sunday!”
Leadbetter sets her qualifying time at 3:15PM on Thursday before racing on Saturday at 4:05PM for points and competing in the inaugural Crandon Pro Spec World Championship on Sunday at 3:45PM. As always, the action will be streamed live on FloRacing all weekend long.
Finally, 2023 Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame Impact Awards Voters Choice selections continue through the month of August. Leadbetter is up against fellow Short Course honorees Kyle Chaney and Cory Winner for Voters Choice, with winners announced on September 9’s Induction & Awards Gala at the South Point in Las Vegas.
