Kasey Beattie Earns Biggest Win To Date With Spring Board 100 Win At White Mountain

Story By: CALE KING / WHITE MOUNTAIN MOTORSPORTS PARK – NORTH WOODSTOCK, NH – The 2023 racing season at White Mountain Motorsports Park officially began on Saturday with the 5th annual Spring Board 100 for the Wall’s Ford Platinum Late Model Series.

Twenty-five Foley Oil & Propane Late Models from across the twin states of New Hampshire and Vermont converged to help get the 31st season of White Mountain started in style following last week’s unfortunate rainout.

Along with the Late Models, the Flying Tigers, Strictly Stock Minis, Dwarf Cars and Kid’s Division also got their first taste of action for 2023.

A growing group of youngsters have joined the Dad’s 4 By Tool & Supply Kid’s Division as WMMP helps cultivate the next generation of racers. They started the night’s racing action as last season’s veterans showed the new kids on the block the fastest route around the quarter-mile. While lapped traffic made them work for it, these wily veterans still held out till the end with Bentley Robbin narrowly nabbing his first career win followed by Austin Sicard and Walker Fitch.

The Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Minis were also led to green by a pair of veterans in Scott Senecal and Jason Goodbout, Jr. Their lone caution would come on lap 13 with sliding rookie McKenna Merchant flying broadside into traffic in turn two to send a melee of cars in all directions. Goodbout would lose a strong run on an expired engine leaving fellow youth-leader Kristian Switser to pick up the lead and take it all the way to the checkers. Defending track champion Chris Moulton along with Scott Senecal would round out the podium.

Back again on a part-time weekly schedule, the Wayne’s Market Dwarf Cars continued their usual lightning pace around the White Mountain highbanks. Perennial title contender Dave Gyger led the field to green and battled all 25 laps with Jason Wyman, slowed only once by a stalled Luke Shannon on lap 22. Wyman would ultimately get the upper hand over Gyger in the final circuit with Ethan Tyrell jumping in to take third.

The Fisher Auto Parts Flying Tigers were the first collection of new vs. old on the night with top rookies Luke Peters, Jim Paquette and Nathan Hamblett up against the likes of John Donahue, Joey Laquerre and Brandon Gray. Jamon Perry would take the commanding lead at the onset, stalked closely by Brad Bushey, Gray and Donahue before Gray overtook the lead by the halfway point. From there it was all Gray leaving the others to battle for second with Jamon Perry charging over John Donahue by just a fender at the line to round out the podium.

The 5th annual Spring Board 100 was likewise an epic battle of the ages, literally. Aside from former top rookies Kasey Beattie, Ryan Ware, Bryan Wall, Jr. and the first ever Late Model start for Taylor Hoar, there were also longtime veterans Stacy Cahoon, Randy Potter, Quinny Welch, Jean-Paul Cyr and Scott Dragon. Leading the charge would be Jimmy Renfrew Jr. and Bryan Wall Jr. with Ryan Ware setting a fiery pace early but fell off with mechanical problems just before the half-way point.

A lap 62 caution between Reilly Lanphear and Matt Anderson would re-rack the field for another dogfight between Wall and Renfrew. Kasey Beattie would instantly join the mix from third and quickly take over the lead until the field was slowed once again on lap 91 for Quinny Welch’s hard contact with the frontstretch wall. The final restart would pit Beattie against Wall with Renfrew waiting in the wings. While the fighting was ferocious, Wall would spin under the white-flag to the infield leaving Kasey Beattie to take his biggest career win to date over Jimmy Renfrew, Jr. and former Flying Tiger track champion Tanner Woodard. Stacy Cahoon and Ben Belanger would round out the top-5 in the first of four Wall’s Ford Platinum Late Model Series showdowns at White Mountain.

With the 2023 season officially underway at White Mountain Motorsports Park, Thunder returns to the Mountains next Saturday, June 3rd with the first leg of the Central Asphalt Paving Flying Tiger Triple Crown Series. All your favorite Fisher Auto Parts Flying Tigers will be in action with several traveling faces expected to join the fray, along with the Foley Oil & Propane Late Models, Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Minis and Dad’s 4 By Tool & Supply Kid’s Division!
